Plans are underway at the Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa to construct a Memorial Room honoring the legacy of St. John Paul II, Venerable Stefan Cardinal Wyszynski, and Blessed Reverend Jerzy Popieluszko. Their valiant struggle to defeat the evils of Communism inspired the faithful to remain steadfast during the oppressive years of World War II and its aftermath. Their witness of courage and love sustains us today.
As a lasting tribute to the courage of our saintly pope, cardinal, and priest, newly planted trees will arise on each side of the Memorial Room. The trees will offer the community the means to commemorate spiritual milestones such as baptisms, anniversaries, graduations, and weddings. In addition, members of the Shrine community can immortalize beloved members of their own families by inscribing their names on the leaves of the trees, thereby joining past, present, and future. For just as Pope John Paul II, Cardinal Wyszynski, and Father Popieluszko preserved the faith for us, so we too can preserve that legacy for generations to come.
