At Lourdes in 1858 Our Lady appeared to St Bernadette and taught her the rosary.  As little Bernadette recited the rosary at each visit, Our Lady held up her beads and in time with the child, showed her approval of that form of prayer.  In 1917, Mary came to Fatima to teach the importance of the Rosary, declaring herself to be “The Lady of the Rosary”.  She exhorted men to amend their lives and to ask pardon for their sins.  They must not continue to offend our Lord, and they must say the Rosary.  The Rosary is devotion to the incarnation of our Lord and to His Blessed Mother.
